El Morado Natural Monument

In Santiago, Chile, in the heart of the Andes, in Cajón del Maipo, you will find this impressive high mountain tourist attraction, with majestic landscapes of more than 2,400 meters high that will leave you speechless. It has an impressive glacier, which you can reach through the path to the San Francisco glacier where you can see the Laguna El Morado and meet birds such as the giant hummingbird, the cometocino and the thrush. In addition, you will be able to know the Andean sclerophyllous bushes, the white grass and the foxtail, an endemic plant, at the foot of Cerro El Morado that, with more than 5,000 meters of altitude, dominates the landscape of the park.


The entrance hours to the Monument go from 08:30 to 13:00 in high season (October-
April) and the exit is until 18:00. While in winter, (May-September), entry is from 8:30 to
12:30 h, and departure until 5:00 p.m.

El Morado Natural Monument has viewpoints and trails. Camping only for specialized climbers. Other visits, only for the day.
El Morado is 93 km from Santiago, approximately 2.5 hours away driving or by car. The official route is the G-25, paved to Baños Morales.
