El Plomo hot springs are two large pools with a waterfall in the middle of a rocky outcrop at 2,900 metres above sea level in the middle of the Andes Mountains. Rustic, natural and without human intervention, its thermal waters come from the San José volcano and have a high concentration of minerals, with temperatures that can reach 30°C.
Located in El Yeso Valley, formed by sites and landscapes of international geological importance, it gathers peaks, glaciers and rivers and the imposing Laguna Los Patos located at 3,200 metres above sea level, a hiking route.
To get there, you must take the G455 route that connects with the tourist attraction El Yeso reservoir, the same that marks the entry point to this magical valley, ideal for those seeking tranquillity and enjoy nature tourism; this high mountain route ends at the hot springs and connects with the border crossing Piuquenes, open only a couple of months in summer season and only when weather conditions allow the crossing of the Andes by a horse.
In this Valley, you can perform various activities such as hiking, horseback riding, excursions only in areas, routes and with operators pre-established by the administration.
